Failure to signal for a turn can increase your insurance rate by a whopping 18.55% on average, according to Laura Adams, senior analyst for InsuranceQuotes.com (reported by MainStreet.com).

So when are you supposed to signal anyway?

Vehicle Code 22107 tells us to signal when another vehicle is close-by; and, Vehicle Code 22108 tells us to use that signal for at least 100 feet before a turn.

If your vehicle’s signal lights are broken, you can avoid a ticket by using hand signals instead. The DMV also recommends using hands signals if bright sunlight makes the signal lights hard to spot (see DMV Driver handbook: Safe Driving Practices – Signaling). – blog submitted by staging-vadusuxe.kinsta.cloud, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.
