Random CHP Vehicle Inspection Checkpoints Have Drivers Nervous

Random CHP Vehicle Inspection Checkpoints Have Drivers Nervousblog submitted by staging-vadusuxe.kinsta.cloud, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.

staging-vadusuxe.kinsta.cloud has received several recent inquiries about certain smog/equipment checkpoints set up by the CHP. These types of checkpoints are set up at various random locations in California. One caller reported seeing a checkpoint during the day on Kester Avenue in Sherman Oaks with signs that said “surveyors ahead, slow down and prepare to stop”  and a CHP van with an officer directing the occasional (probably random) car to pull over to the side of the road.

While this type of checkpoint may seem bogus, unfortunately for those drivers who have a car in a state of disrepair, it is legit according to Vehicle Code section 2814:

“Every driver of a passenger vehicle shall stop and submit the vehicle to an inspection of the mechanical condition and equipment of the vehicle at any location where members of the California Highway Patrol are conducting tests and inspections of passenger vehicles and when signs are displayed requiring such stop.”  –  blog submitted by staging-vadusuxe.kinsta.cloud, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.
