Drivers should be especially wary of their speed when driving through certain LA “hot spots”.
CBS2 investigative reporter David Goldstein uncovered the top intersections in Los Angeles people received speeding tickets in 2012 (Goldstein obtained LAPD’s database that recorded every speeding ticket issued in 2012 which amounted to 43,426):
Number 1 Hot Spot: La Brea near Coliseum Street in Baldwin Hills (downhill slope) – 1,605 tickets issued in 2012 (police say this location is targeted because it has historically been a problem).
Number 2 Hot Spot: Laurel Canyon and Canton in the Hollywood Hills (another downhill slope) – 1,241 tickets issued in 2012.
Other Hot Spots that made the Top Five: Woodman and Collins in Sherman Oaks -1,055 tickets in 2012, Roscoe and Nagle in Sun Valley -1,018 tickets in 2012, and PCH and East O Street in Wilmington -814 tickets in 2012.
Interesting fact, in his investigation Goldstein found more drivers received tickets on Tuesdays between the morning hours of 8 and 10! – blog submitted by staging-vadusuxe.kinsta.cloud, helping drivers contest and dismiss their traffic tickets.
